Single Sit on Top Kayaks
If you want freedom to paddle on your own, exploring those areas which need a lightweight kayak to get to or just want to have fun as a group of individuals, a single sit on top is ideal.
They come in various sizes suitable for adults, men, women, and children. They also can carry, depending on style, the extra gear you may need such as a change of clothes, camera and packed lunch.
Families always have the difficult choice of what boat to go for, a double or say two singles. The main advantage of a single kayak other than that of being nimble and manouverable on the water is that they are also easier to put on the roof of the car or carry down to the beach. Also as children get older and find their feet, they tend to prefer to have their own kayak to paddle as part of the group, thus giving them independance.
If properly supervised single kayaks can be enormous fun for kids in the shallows, who are able to climb all over them playing pirates with their mates, whilst at the same time learning to paddle and appreciate watersports.
